affordable dresses

I love dresses like Steve Jobs loved turtlenecks. My days are usually jam-packed with long to-do lists so when it comes to putting outfits together during the week for meetings, outings and everything else, I go straight to the dress section of my closet. I have it broken down into three categories: casual, semi-casual and formal. Casual is usually what I can throw on with sandals or flats to run errands or conduct lunch meetings; semi-casual I classify as dresses that can be worn to cocktail parties and dinners, and formal dresses are for gala events and special occasions. In the last few months, I conducted a little research study of online dress stores to see if what you see is what you get.  I ordered from 11 online-only stores and found that these 3 were the best in terms of quality, fit, and pricing:

1. Lulus.com

Lulu’s quality is better than most major fast-fashion stores. I ordered 5 dresses and all of their fabrics were thick, sustainable and have outlasted a few washes.

2. Asos.com

My favorite thing about ASOS is that they have petite, regular, tall, plus size and maternity sizes. When people ask me for dress store recommendations, ASOS is the first one I suggest because regardless of your size, there will be something for you. And unlike other popular dress sites, their prices have remained reasonable despite their success. They even offer Free Shipping for orders for $25 with an Asos promo code as well as percentage off discounts for students.

3. SaboSkirt.com

They have the most unique variety of dresses I’ve seen at low prices. If you’re looking for something chic and trendy but not the typical department store “safe” styles, this is your go-to store. Just keep in mind that they are based in Australia and delivery times take longer to ship internationally.
